In equine supported coaching, when our intention and action are not aligned, we are incongruent – the horse seeks congruency to connect – this makes the relationship safe.
Connection creates a bigger ‘herd’ which translates to greater safety from predators. The horse magnifies the incongruency until we notice it, as a means to initiate connection.
When we change (align our internal and external state) to become congruent we will see an impact on the horse’s behavior.
The 'ah ha' moment. Once you know, you can not unknow. Debriefing the experience with the equine facilitated instructor solidifies the insights realized in the exercise.
Horses have 60 million years of evolution; humans have 6 million. Giving them 10 times the genetic knowledge of what it takes to survive and thrive.
Herd wisdom teaches us that the more connected, diverse, and adaptable a group is, the more viable it is.
Horses don’t judge – they discern - there is no right or wrong for a horse, things just are or they are not.
Horses mirror what they see in us, allowing us to take an honest look at ourselves, and in that reflection, we discover a path to growth.
Animals have a keen sense of intuition, taking in data from their entire surroundings – seen and unseen.
Because they appreciate diversity, their willingness to interact with humans is innate.
This video is an excellent example of the beginning of a trusting horse and human releationship.
