~ Helen Keller ~

My life has been full of rich and transformative chapters—rooted in service, healing, and soul-centered guidance.
After a fulfilling 30-year career in nursing, with specialized experience in NICU, hospice, and palliative care, my husband, Steve, and I followed a deep calling in 2006 that led us beyond U.S. borders. We landed in Costa Rica, where we transformed a 26-acre dairy farm into a thriving retreat center nestled at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano.
From 2006 to 2020, Costa Rica was our sanctuary. It was here I discovered the profound healing power of horses and nature, and witnessed countless individuals reconnect with themselves through this work. We sold the center in 2020.
In 2020, life’s unfolding brought us back to the United States, where we settled in Virginia. There, I continued offering coaching, workshops, and end-of-life support, while caring for elderly family members and navigating the collective transitions of the pandemic.
In 2025, the pull to return to Costa Rica became undeniable—and we listened. Now we are home once more, living among rivers, waterfalls, and lush mountain terrain on a peaceful 25-acre farm in the southern Pacific zone.
I am the author of Pony’s Girl Parables, currently being considered for film adaptation by Amazon Prime and several other production companies, and the forthcoming book The Inevitable: Live Like You Are Dying. I also host the Benevolent Journeys podcast.
Throughout my life, I’ve been privileged to guide others through some of life’s most tender thresholds—birth, death, grief, and profound personal change.
Since 2007, I’ve facilitated retreats, supported hundreds of individuals in transformational work, and taught internationally—presenting at global conferences like the Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI) in Ireland, co-facilitating the Eponaquest Apprenticeship Program in New Zealand, Australia, the USA, and Costa Rica, and leading workshops across Denmark, Chile, Portugal, and Canada.
This is more than a profession—it is my way of life's mission. My current equine partners—Cowboy, Halsey, Tango, and Titan—along with the wisdom of this land, are my co-facilitators. Together, we offer a unique space for deep listening, personal growth, and soulful reconnection.
Eponicity is where modern coaching meets ancient wisdom. This is not therapy—it is sacred, embodied living. This is not just coaching—it is a homecoming to yourself.

My resume says forty years at the threshold of life and death. What it doesn't say is that I've been standing there since the day I was born.
This book began at the bedside of a sheltered, dying woman in the middle of a cornfield in Minnesota. She was in her late thirties with terminal cancer. She had never eaten a taco, never allowed herself to imagine the places she might go. One afternoon, she asked me if she was dying. No one had told her yet. I was her hospice nurse.
The answer I gave that afternoon, and everything that unfolded in the days that followed, became the foundation of how I live my life.
Inevitable: Live Like You Are Dying is not a book about death. It is a book born from forty years of sitting with the dying — in NICUs, in hospice rooms, and in the tenacious space between one breath and the next.
From those moments, I have come to a simple, urgent knowing:
The life you are waiting to live is available now. Drawing on ancient Hermetic wisdom, modern science, and experiences that can only come from a life lived in full embrace of its uncertainty, Inevitable offers a living framework for inhabiting your time on Earth with clarity, courage, and full presence.
Because here is what forty years at the threshold has taught me: a sheltered life feels safe. But safety, when it becomes a strategy for avoiding discomfort, keeps us small. And in the end, we find ourselves having avoided the very thing we needed most — the vulnerability that makes life feel real.
Things may not go the way you imagine they will. They go the way they are meant to. And when you can meet that truth — when you can step into the uncertainty rather than around it — that is what it means to live like you are dying.
Not someday. Now.
Inevitable is organized around eight Hermetic Principles — timeless laws that have shaped philosophy, science, and spiritual understanding for thousands of years.
As I move closer to my own inevitability, I have come to see that every lesson and event that has shaped my life — from the seemingly inconsequential to the monumental — can be more fully understood through the lens of these principles.
As the ancient philosophers who first articulated them intended, they offer a foundational map for the human experience.
Each principle is brought to life through:
The result is a layered experience: part memoir, part wisdom tradition, part embodied practice — and an honest reckoning with what it means to be fully alive.

"This experience was life-changing in that Deborah and her amazing horses gave me my life back. My 22-year-old son was killed in 2016. When that happened, I lost a part of myself, a part of my heart and soul, that I thought was gone forever, and I had resigned myself to being heartbroken for the rest of my life, but I had reached a point where I knew I could not go on like that any longer.
I was desperate for change. I had no idea what it was, but I knew I had depleted all the resources I knew of. I had been to counseling, grief counseling, and therapy, got on antidepressants, and took a leave from work. I was withdrawing from people, and it was extremely painful to interact with anyone. I no longer wanted to be a part of society. I could no longer pretend everything was okay when inside, I felt like I was losing my mind…
Somehow, through divine intervention, the universe took me to Deborah and her gentle husband, their little dog, their peaceful farm, and their spectacular horses. With Deborah's loving guidance, wisdom, and encouragement, and with the absolute help of the horses, I am better! I am healed. I am healthy. I am happy again. I am back to being me.
There are no words to express my gratitude. My family is amazed. My husband is so grateful to Eponicity to have his wife back. I will never forget this experience.
If you, or anyone you care about, is struggling with how hard life can be at times, I strongly encourage you to contact Deborah and her horses. She will enable you to find your heart and soul again, like she did me. You do not need to suffer alone. There is help. I was at the bottom, and now I am at the top!"
