Homestay – Cultural & Language Immersion

Reclaim Your Wild and Precious Life

In the quiet mountains of southern Costa Rica, life slows to the rhythm of the land. Through simple home-cooked meals and the everyday rituals of rural life, you are invited to reawaken your wild and precious heart—rediscovering connection, belonging, and a way of being that feels timeless, and perhaps exactly what you need to carry back into your daily life when you return home.

Welcome to Estar’s Home

Recently widowed, with grown children of her own, Estar felt called to open her doors and her heart to new beginnings. With her generous spirit and natural gift for nurturing others, she has created a homestay experience that is both authentic and soul-nourishing. Supported by her neighbors Deborah and Steve, Estar now welcomes guests from all walks of life into her home in rural San Lorenzo, Costa Rica.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be embraced by the warmth of Costa Rican hospitality—freshly brewed coffee grown in the nearby hills, home-cooked meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients, and the steady rhythm of country life. This is not simply a place to stay; it is an immersion into a way of living that feels timeless, simple, and deeply human.

As a guest, you’ll share in the daily rhythms of the land. You’ll be invited to slow down, to step back from the noise of modern life, and to reconnect with yourself through the grounding simplicity of nature and community.

This is a space for reflection, renewal, and re-wilding your spirit—an opportunity to remember what it means to live in true connection with the land, with others, and with your own wild and precious heart.

Additional Information

About the Area

The homestay is nestled in the quiet mountains of Costa Rica’s Southern Pacific Zone, at a refreshing 2,500 feet. Life here is shaped by cool breezes, fertile land, and the steady rhythms of rural living. From Estar’s home you can see the valley that stretches toward San Isidro de El General, just 20 minutes away, while the ocean towns of Dominical and Uvita lie 45 minutes down the mountain road. To the north, the high ridges of Chirripó rise above the valley, where cloud forests shelter rare birds and wildlife. This setting offers guests not only comfort and beauty, but the chance to experience Costa Rica as it is lived—close to the land, rooted in community, and guided by the natural world.

Proximity to Eponicity

Estar’s home is just a 2 km walk from our farm along a quiet, unpaved country road that winds past family farms, open pastures, and pockets of rainforest. Estar's guests are welcome to visit us, swim in the waterfalls of our river, and enjoy the beauty of the land we steward.

For those who wish to take their homestay journey a step further, we offer private equine-supported coaching sessions rooted in the philosophy of the Medicine Wheel.

Here, with the wisdom of the horses as guides, you’ll explore how to integrate this slower, more connected way of being into your own life—an invitation to step fully into the one wild and precious life you have.
