What to Expect

Reaching out for coaching can feel like a big step, especially when you're exploring something personal, facing a life transition, or sensing that something in your life is ready to change.

You may know exactly what brings you here. You may have a feeling that something needs your attention without knowing quite what it is.

Either way, we have a place to begin.

My approach to coaching is personal, experiential, and responsive to you. I bring years of experience, a variety of tools, and a deep trust in the wisdom that emerges when we give ourselves time and space to pay attention.

Why Horses?

Equine-Facilitated Retreats

We Begin With a Conversation

Before you travel to Costa Rica, we'll meet on Zoom.

This is our opportunity to get acquainted, talk about what is happening in your life, and explore what has brought you to consider this experience.

I'll listen, ask questions, and begin getting a sense of where you are and what might be helpful.

From there, I'll create a personalized retreat designed around you, your circumstances, and the possibilities you want to explore.

There is no standard program that everyone follows. Your experience begins with your own story.

Planning Your Visit

Once we decide to work together, we'll discuss the practical details of your visit, including travel arrangements, accommodations, timing, and anything else that will help you feel prepared.

Most of my private retreat guests stay at Estar, our homestay accommodation, where Ester will look after you throughout your stay.

You'll have a comfortable place to rest, delicious home-prepared meals, and someone nearby to help with your daily needs.

My intention is for you to arrive knowing that the practical details have been considered, so you can give your attention to the experience itself.

Your Arrival

On your first evening, I generally join you for dinner at Estar.

It's an opportunity for us to meet in person, enjoy a meal, and settle into the experience together.

We'll talk about what the coming days might look like, answer any questions, and make sure you're comfortable.

The following morning, our work with the horses begins.

Meeting the Herd

We begin by getting acquainted with the horses, the property, and the environment where we'll be spending our time.

You'll learn a little about how horses communicate, how we work together, and what to expect when you're with the herd. You do not need any previous horse experience.

The horses are active participants in this process. I pay attention to their responses, interactions, and invitations, allowing what happens naturally to help guide our work.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments arise from something wonderfully simple.

A Typical Day at Eponicity

Our retreat days generally run from approximately  9 AM to 4 PM, with plenty of room to follow the rhythm of the experience. We'll spend time with the horses, explore what arises, and use different approaches to help you understand and integrate your discoveries.

Depending on the day, that might include journaling, creative expression, walking through the property, sitting beside the river, or taking time in a hammock to simply absorb what you've experienced.

Around midday, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by Ester, often beside the river and waterfall.

You'll also receive supportive retreat materials, including a deck of my Integrate Align Evolve coaching cards, to use during your stay and take home with you.

The days tend to pass surprisingly quickly. There is room for meaningful work, conversation, laughter, reflection, and the unexpected.

How the Days Come Together

Most private retreats include four full days of experiential coaching.

Although each retreat follows its own path, there is a natural progression to the work.

  • Day One: Discovering What Wants Your Attention
  • We begin exploring what is happening in your life and what possibilities may be asking to be recognized.
  • Day Two: Making Room for Possibility
  • As awareness grows, we explore familiar patterns, beliefs, relationships, and ways of responding. What might need to shift to create space for something new?
  • Day Three: Discovering Who You Are Being Asked to Become
  • What qualities, strengths, choices, or parts of yourself are ready to come forward? We explore how you can embody the changes you are beginning to recognize.
  • Day Four: Bringing It Into Your Life
  • We gather the discoveries from our time together and explore practical, actionable steps that can support you as you return to everyday life.

Each day builds upon the previous one, and because this is a personal experience, we remain responsive to what is actually happening rather than trying to follow a predetermined agenda.

Taking the Experience Home

An important part of our work is discovering how to bring your new awareness into everyday life.

Throughout the retreat, we'll explore how your insights relate to your relationships, decisions, habits, and the way you choose to show up in the world.

By the time we finish, my hope is that you'll have a deeper understanding of yourself, a clearer sense of the possibilities before you, and practical ways to begin living into them. The retreat may end after four days, but the discoveries can continue to reveal themselves long after you've returned home.
